KordAva Films is the film production branch of KordAva Production. We develop and produce independent films that explore identity, memory, migration and belonging, stories told from the crossroads of the Middle East, North Africa and the Nordic region.
Our debut feature The Soldier has travelled to 36 international film festivals and won 5 awards. Our second feature, 7/9, a quiet Helsinki love story set on a city tram line, is currently in production.

Synopsis
Finland, 1944. A wounded Muslim soldier fighting for the German army escapes into the deep northern forests, hunted by enemy patrols and trapped between the ideals he once believed in and the brutal reality of war. His lonely flight becomes a struggle for survival, identity, and redemption as the forest closes around him like a living witness.
Decades later, a filmmaker travels to the same wilderness to retrace the soldier’s forgotten journey. What begins as a historical investigation turns into a haunting confrontation with memory itself. The deeper he goes, the more the past rises to meet him — in echoes, visions, and unanswered questions.
As their stories begin to mirror each other, the line between filmmaker and subject dissolves. The forest becomes a crossroads where guilt, faith, and the silence of history demand to be heard.
The Soldier is a poetic reflection on trauma, erasure, and the invisible scars carried across generations — a cinematic dialogue between past and present, and a reminder that history never disappears; it only waits to be found.

Synopsis
Marco, a tram driver in Helsinki, navigates the quiet routines of his life, carrying memories of family and the distant struggles of his homeland. When fleeting encounters with a traveler and a young student disrupt his daily route, he discovers that even amidst routine, connection, longing, and unexpected moments can change the course of a life.
Director’s Statement
With 7/9, my mission is to tell a deeply human story about loneliness, connection, and the quiet moments that shape our lives. In an age where cities are more crowded than ever, many people move through their daily routines feeling invisible and emotionally disconnected. I want to explore how a simple, everyday encounter can become the beginning of something extraordinary.
The tram is more than a means of transportation — it is a metaphor for life. People board, people leave, and countless stories cross paths without ever truly meeting. Within this constantly moving space, two strangers slowly discover one another, reminding us that love does not always arrive through dramatic events, but often through patience, presence, and repeated moments of recognition.
As a filmmaker, I am drawn to stories that celebrate the beauty of ordinary life. I believe cinema has the power to reveal the extraordinary within the familiar, transforming everyday spaces into places of emotional discovery. Through restrained performances, visual intimacy, and a contemplative rhythm, 7/9 invites audiences to slow down, observe, and reconnect with the humanity that exists all around them.
Ultimately, this film is about hope. It is a reminder that even in the anonymity of modern urban life, meaningful relationships remain possible — and that sometimes the smallest encounter can change the direction of an entire life.
